DISCO BLOODBATH

I watched both Party Monster movies with Beth today and it was super surreal.  It almost feels like the characters in reality were more contrived than in the film, they were so unbelievably disassociated from the entirety of the situation but I suppose that's the lifesyle in a nutshell of the amply dubbed philosophy of "profound superficiality".  It also made me completely re-think New York.  I guess too many family visits and constant observance of a strict diet of grizzly Law and Order SVU episodes when I was a kid ruined the big apple fantasy for me for a period. I won't say I feel compelled to New York now either (often referred to as Never York) but it did make my skin prickle a little, and make me want to partake in costumed tomfoolery more often.  Also, I'm super duper jealous of Chloe Sevigny's crazy acting resume.  There will definitely be a replicated costume of her green PVC nurse outfit in my life very soon, so I can saunter by with a tray full of candy-coloured ketamine cocktails, amply doling them out to whoever is willing.

  1. "Never York"? Never heard that one but it sounds like a typical Toronto, always on the sidelines looking for affirmation kind-of-thing. If you really want to get into the game, there's only one place to dance-Big Apple baby!

  3. Last time I checked you sold out, moved up-state and don't even live there anymore, correct? Toronto offers me downtown residence in an enviable three-story home for competitive prices, a cheap and quality education, the ability to run my own small business, create my own shows, make money off my own parties and best of all, walk without being crowded and hassled at every turn. Its great for this time in my life, don;t worry bro. When you come, I'll show you the ropes.

  4. my, my... spoken like a true believer - maybe there are some jobs at the toronto tourism board? they could use it as the toronto tourism ads that run down here make we want to go anywhere but.

btw, is "upstate" 30 minutes from mid-town manhattan? i did put in 14 years and still work here every day. but yah, you got me on the sold-out label - i'll take it :) i'm a boring suburban dad now.

i know toronto ropes but i don't know your ropes! look forward to it.
